I am fascinated with the complex shapes created by shadows and light and I enjoy the challenge of capturing that complexity with the simplicity of pencils on paper.

I've always thought that pumpkins were more than gourds that needed triangular holes cut into them. They are a perfect carving material for creating faces. It is mostly accidental that so many of them appear to be self portraits!

Sculptures
"Oral History", 2008
Many of my sculptures are engineered 3D assemblages made up of mostly found objects. I have fun fitting things together that weren't originally meant to be together and bringing something new into existence. The tossed out junk that I usually use has some spirit reminiscent of another time, place or function and the resulting combinations can sometimes be humorous, sometimes angst-driven, and sometimes both. I hope these sculptures are provocative and entertaining.

I enjoy fitting images and objects together that weren't originally meant to be together and mixing the pre-conceived notions that accompany those images and objects. My collages intentionally raise provocative and humorous questions that are, hopefully, entertaining.
